How to Get to Tagaytay (Public Commuting)

Here's a comprehensive guide on how to get Tagaytay by public transportation.

Where is Tagaytay?

Tagaytay, with its cool climate, stunning views, and delectable cuisine, is a favorite getaway destination for both locals and tourists alike. Located just a stone's throw away from Metro Manila, getting to Tagaytay is relatively easy and convenient.

Whether you prefer public transportation or driving your own vehicle, here's a detailed guide on how to reach this charming city:

1. From Metro Manila to Tagaytay via Aguinaldo Highway

Bus: You can catch a bus bound for Nasugbu, Lian, Calatagan, or Alfonso from Pasay or Buendia. The fare typically ranges around P100 or more. These buses travel along Aguinaldo Highway, passing through the picturesque landscapes of Cavite before reaching Tagaytay. Buses do not have a designated terminal in Tagaytay; they usually drop passengers off at Olivarez Plaza.

Tricycle: Upon arriving at Olivarez Plaza, you'll find tricycles readily available for hire. These tricycles can take you to your hotel or any other destination within Tagaytay. Negotiate the fare beforehand or ensure that the tricycle driver uses the meter.

2. From Metro Manila to Tagaytay via Santa Rosa-Tagaytay Road

Jeepney: If you're coming from Balibago Complex in Sta. Rosa City, you can hop on a jeepney bound for Tagaytay. The fare is relatively affordable, and the journey offers scenic views as you ascend to the higher altitude of Tagaytay. Jeepneys typically drop passengers off at Tagaytay City Market.

Tricycle: From Tagaytay City Market, tricycles are readily available to take you to your hotel or desired destination. Similar to the Aguinaldo Highway route, it's advisable to negotiate the fare or ensure the use of the meter before riding.

Tips for Driving Your Own Vehicle

If you prefer the flexibility and convenience of driving your own vehicle, both routes mentioned above are accessible by car. The Aguinaldo Highway route is particularly popular among motorists due to its wider roads and well-maintained highways. Just ensure to check the traffic conditions, especially during weekends and holidays, as Tagaytay tends to get crowded, causing traffic congestion on major roads.

Currently, my recommended quickest route involves entering CALAX via Mamplasan and then exiting onto Aguinaldo. Read more: The Fastest Way to Tagaytay
